What is the difference between 304 and 316 Stainless?
304 Stainless is the most common used stainless steel and is easily maintained with a mild detergent.Industries that have strict hygiene conditions that require cleaning with strong anti-bacterial solutions and architectural projects positioned in marine environments or heavy industry will use 316 Stainless because of its increased ability to resist pitting and crevice corrosion. |

Do I have to maintain Stainless Steel products?
Although stainless steel is used because of its resistance to corrosion, if not regularly maintained it may suffer from localized corrosion often referred to as “tea-staining”. Using a low chloride detergent with soft cloths or brushes (to avoid scratches) with plenty of water is usually all that is required. Bleaches are not recommended. The frequency of cleaning depends on the use of the stainless steel product. Weekly cleaning would be recommended where stainless steel is used in heavy industrial or marine environments. Cleaning every 3-6 months for mild to moderate environments. Industries requiring strict hygiene maintenance would have their own specialized schedules. |
